Thanks to a twist-heavy third act that piles on an escalating stream of outrageous proclamations, it ALMOST works.
A filmed play if there ever was one, I appreciated that they stuck to their guns and never left the tailor (excuse me, CUTTER’S) shop, even though it meant describing things that otherwise would’ve been shown.
It sags a bit in the middle and characters make dunderheaded decisions while trying to tap dance their way out of a jam, but it’s not without its charm and Mark Rylance is always an engaging presence.
